Weight loss transformation: ‘Unfortunate’ weight loss beat menopausal weight gain by losing 2nd place

Claire De Rozarieux, 49, knew she had to make a life change when her peri-menopausal weight gain began to impact her marriage to husband Joe and her relationship with her teenage daughter. Now, after losing a whopping two stone by going on a new diet, she has found new life and has never been happier.

Claire started experiencing symptoms of peri-menopause three years ago, which made her very unhappy.

She was irritable to the point that it affected her relationship with her family and caused a series of symptoms.

These included restless legs, interrupted sleep, hair loss and brain fog.

But after her husband urged her to talk about how she was feeling, Claire finally admitted how bad she felt about her weight.

She had already been a member of WW (formerly Weight Watchers) before retiring, and decided to join and start a new, healthier life.

For Claire, it is spicy foods and red wine that aggravate her body, so she has excluded them from her diet.

But she still enjoys her potatoes and her off-the-shelf bread.

Speaking about her journey, she said: “WW saved my life. I got my health back. And my sanity.

“It has helped me with my marriage and my relationships too.”

Claire’s success has also helped her adopt healthier habits.

A self-confessed “snacker”, she now seeks fruit rather than a bag of crisps and likes to add more vegetables to her meals.

“I’ve learned that when I eat good, clean food, I don’t have any symptoms of peri-menopause,” she explained.

“Before, I was last on my list of priorities, but when I put my nutrition and myself first, it benefited everyone in the family.

“WW is about wellness, food is only part of the puzzle – sleep, mindset and exercise are equally important.”

Claire also noted that her sleep and mood have improved thanks to her new, healthier diet.

And having had a dog during confinement, she is much more active than ever.

“I walk a lot and I do yoga and pilates to strengthen myself,” she added.
