KOTA KINABALU (January 30): The Thai embassy plans to appoint an honorary consul in Sabah soon to represent Thailand.

Its new ambassador, Chainarong Keratiyutwong, revealed this to a delegation from the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) which recently paid a courtesy visit to him in Kuala Lumpur.

The FSI was led by its president, Richard Lim, accompanied by its representative in Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ Alfred Soh.

Chainarong was very happy that FSI still has a good relationship with the Thai Embassy.

Lim invited Chainarong to attend the Sabah International Expo (SIE) to be held at the Sabah International Convention Center, Kota Kinabalu in 2023.

“We would like to invite Chainarong Keratiyutwong to participate in our FSI Nite this year as well. It would be great if His Excellency could attract more potential investors from Thailand to Sabah as we all know that Sabah is a full potential and strategic place to invest in various industries,” he said.

Lim also introduced the KKIP Autocity to the Ambassador. “We know that Thailand has a car racing program every year, and we hope that Thai specialists and investors can come to Sabah to have a look at this project from the Ministry of Industrial Development. It will really be a great opportunity for the two countries to come together and take this KKIP Autocity forward and grow internationally,” added Lim.

The FSI delegation plans to visit the Thailand Food & Beverages (THAIFEX) exhibition to be held in May.

“We also hope that the Thai Embassy can bring exhibitors from THAIFEX to join us in our SIE as well,” Lim said.

Chainarong told Lim he would climb Mount Kinabalu with the Australian, Swiss and Austrian ambassadors in mid-April.

“It would be great if we had the opportunity to meet some ministers from Sabah and have a meeting with the ISF also during our trip to Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

“We also invite the FSI delegation to visit Thailand at any time,” the ambassador added.
