Hi Charleston, Tatum here. Last Sunday, I witnessed the smooth opening of Port of call Food + Brewery – a new food hall opening today in downtown Charleston.
The port of call is an area of 10,000 square feet located at 99 S. Market St. – the former location of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Space redesigned includes a 2-story indoor dining room put behind a large outdoor terrace.
There are 5 suppliers to choose from – Greek restaurant Bapkó Grill House (pronounced var-ko), Asian fusion restaurant Bok Choy Boy, Empire oyster, Iaca acai bowls, and Palmira barbecue.
Vendors offer locally sourced and organically grown food, served in sustainable packaging. The room has 3 bars including one on the terrace. The bars serve beer, wine, and spirits with an emphasis on local craft beers.
I ordered a bowl of spicy tuna poke from Iaca and sat at a picnic table in the courtyard, which is shaded by living oaks strung with twinkling lights.
The bowl was delicious + I can’t wait to go back and try the other restaurants. The room is now open from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. every day. The beer garden will open soon.
