Kenya Kwanza vows to punish China for lending to Uhuru government

The Kenya Kwanza coalition has warned the Chinese government that it will be held accountable for what they said were bad loan deals shrouded in corruption.

Speaking at a rally in Kamukunji, Nairobi County, on Saturday June 4, Garissa Township MP Aden Duale blasted the current government for its excessive borrowing from foreign governments, noting that it created a loophole for corruption-related cases.

He also issued a stern warning to any foreign government against providing loans to Kenya during the election period as it would be against the law.

“We know the owners of the new highway in Nairobi. We say to the Chinese government that we will hold you and your companies accountable. Any government that issues loans and debts over the next two months, you are violating the constitution,” Duale said. declared.

The legislator also launched mockery at the Azimio la Umoja coalition which had claimed that Vice-President William Ruto would not be on the ballot.

He noted that the Kenya Kwanza Brigade had assembled a team that would liberate the country if the DP formed the next government.

“To our friends and critics. You wanted to isolate DP Ruto. William Ruto has today assembled the largest group of leaders in the whole country who will take Kenya to the next level,” he said.

During the rally, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi also criticized the current regime for the debt situation in the country.

Mudavadi noted that the Kenya Kwanza team would be the answer to the country’s economic difficulties. His sentiments were echoed by DP Ruto who promised the people of Nairobi transformational change if he were to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Among these promises are 20 new markets, a stable water supply, a functioning sewage system, a mortgage of Ksh 5,000 as well as 5% interest on the mortgage.

The Kenya Kwanzas launched a charm offensive in Nairobi after DP Ruto was cleared to run for president by the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The debt situation has been a source of concern for Kenyans in the current administration. According to the Treasury report, China’s total debt to Kenya stood at Ksh 800 billion in March 2022. However, this is the lowest since 2020 with the debt standing at Ksh 787 billion.
