It Might Be Easier To Find UFOs Than These 2 Desserts In NYS

Have you even been obsessed with eating something so delicious that you start to crave it? Are there any events that you look forward to because you know that dessert will be there?

Do you get addicted to something from the grocery store, only to make it disappear, not only from the store where you normally shop, but mysteriously from all the grocery stores within a 20 mile radius?

Alright, take a deep breath, switch to decaffeinated.

Here are the two desserts that mysteriously disappeared within twenty miles of my home, and possibly all over New York State. I’m even going to take a risk and hypothesize that with all the UFO / paranormal activity in our area, it would be easier to meet a UFO than it would be these desserts.

The first dessert is the elusive Bienenstich or Bee Sting Cake. If you’ve ever had it, then you know it. It’s two layers of cake, which has that thick, creamy honey pudding between the layers, and then there’s a drizzle of honey syrup on top of the cake with some flaked almonds on it. Hearing the word “honey” you might think it’s terribly sweet, but it’s more of a light, delicate sweetness. Yum. Normally at this time of year (September and October) it can be spotted at local Oktoberfest events, but alas, it is gone.

The second dessert is from the grocery store. My neighbor is obsessed with them and asked me to look for them when I go shopping. Yes Key Lime Dessert, not to be confused with the yogurt they produce. This is a two-jar dessert that is sold near Jello Pudding and Kozy Shack Rice Pudding in the dessert section of the fridge. In fact, she told me that if I find it, I can buy up to 10 of the 2-jar desserts on her behalf and she will refund me.

Crazy, right? Which dessert would you like to find? Maybe the one from your childhood or the one from a favorite restaurant that has closed? Share it with us!
