Garden gem Phrom Phong ‘Kram’ bids farewell after 7 years

Today is the last day for dinner at a garden house in the Phrom Phong district of Bangkok.

The latest to say goodbye to diners is Kram, located at Soi Sukhumvit 39, who today announced that this will be his last day serving guests.

“After seven years of good memories, the party is over and our last day of operation is [Thursday]Kram said online.

Kram, which means “Indigo,” was opened in 2014 by Supreecha “Jan” Junsunjai in a 50-year-old house and garden decorated with ottomans and hanging light bulbs. He served classic Thai dishes such as curry with crab meat and wild betel leaves, sautéed pork with shrimp paste, malindjo leaves sautéed with eggs. This is perhaps best remembered as a pleasant setting to meet friends over beers.

The owners had recently made some improvements, including the addition of a bar closed off by the outdoor garden.

Kram is the latest victim of the pandemic. Several restaurants have announced their closure in recent weeks due to lack of tourists, financial losses, high rents and lack of government support.
