Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão is looking to expand in Northern Virginia.

The permits show the restaurant is looking to add a location in downtown Reston at 11915 Democracy Drive across from Jackson’s open-air restaurant Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge and Uncle Julio’s Mexican restaurant.

The addition would make it one of the many additions coming to the shopping district in 2022. It would occupy a vacant location during most of the COVID-19 pandemic after the Big Bowl Chinese and Thai restaurant closed in early 2020 after nearly two decades of business.

A marketing manager for the Plano, Texas-based company did not respond to a post for comment, but a New York City public relations firm for Fogo de Chão responded, saying it had access to it. ‘limited information and adding that she “will be touching it with a little more insight when available.

But a Tysons location official tells Reston Now the new location is slated to open in 2022, hopefully by mid-year, noting that Tysons location will remain.

Fogo de Chão has yet to start hiring for the new location, the Tysons manager said. The Brazilian steakhouse is also working to open another location in Southern California.
