Aid for two construction projects is on the agenda of the Fort Dodge City Council tonight.
The council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with an update on Main St. Fort Dodge.
The regular council business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the municipal building.
During this meeting, the board will take the first of several steps to provide tax increment funding to support two projects.
One such project is the construction of a new freezer building and receiving dock at Northern Lights Distributing, 2949 Eighth Ave. S. The plan provides additional funding of $60,000 to pay for the construction of a 15 inch diameter storm sewer as part of the project.
The other project is the construction of a new Starbucks at 2940 Fifth Ave. S. The proposal seeks $80,000 in tax increment funding to reimburse the developer for the demolition of the former Pizza Hut restaurant that once stood on the site.
Tax increment funding occurs when increased property tax revenue from a designated area is set aside for reinvestment in that area.
